Patricia Bennett

Certified Pilates Instructor

Patricia has been teaching Mat Pilates for nine years, but her journey with this form of exercise began much earlier.  In 2001, after having two children 18 months apart, her abdominal muscles were in bad shape and she had a significant diastases recti (separation of the midline abdominal muscles) that just wouldn’t budge with her regular routine of sit-ups.  After doing some investigation about the best abdominal exercises to do, Patricia came across a book about Pilates called, “The Pilates Body,” by Brooke Silar.  At that time, it was not in the mainstream, still only being taught in ballet schools. However, the book proved to be life changing for Patricia, restoring her core muscles and igniting a passion for the principles of Pilates.

Fast forward to 2015, when a friend told Patricia about 229Yoga here in Albany and their offering of Pilates classes. Intrigued, she attended a class and never stopped.  Within a year or two, she became certified to teach Mat Pilates and taught at 229Yoga until it closed in 2025.

Originally from North Georgia (Cumming) Patricia met her husband, John, while they were both in college in Virginia and they have two adult children and two grandsons.

When not teaching, Patricia  enjoys being on her little farm out in Randolph County, riding four-wheelers, growing fruit trees, tending grapevines, making wine, jam and pickles.  She also enjoys scuba diving and horseback riding when she gets the chance.
